Polydoros was born in Limassol. He began his boxing career in 1991 and in 1993 was invited for the first time in The National Boxing Team of Cyprus. He successfully passed the exams of the Boxing school of Coaches, of the Cyprus Amateur Boxing Federation. He is qualified as AIBA boxing coach.
In 2004, he worked as an assistant coach in the International Limassol Boxing Club for the seniors’ team and later on in the same year became the coach of the juniors’ club team. During his career, he represented Cyprus in Pre-Olympic tournaments, Mediterranean, Commonwealth, Pan-European and Global contests.
His major achievements as an athlete include:
- Third place in the European Championship for cadets 1994 Finland.
- Fifth place at the European Championship juniors 1995 Greece.
- Fifth place in the European Championship for youths 1996 Turkey.
- Fifth place in the European Championship for youths 1997 England.
- Fifth place in Mediterranean Games 1997 Italy.
- Ninth place in world military championship 1999 Croatia.
- Ninth place in the Commonwealth Games in 1998, in Malaysia and in 2002, in England.
- Polis participated in 120 contest and represented Cyprus and get metals in many International Championships.
