Sports and educational camp from Active Planet

For the first time in Cyprus sports camp for programming and robotics will take place. This is a new and absolutely unique camp that combines opportunities to improve your physical fitness, improve health and gain good knowledge and skills in programming and robotics.

Camp date: 23.03-30.03

The foundation of our program is QUALITY AND RESULT!

Every day in the camp will be interesting and unforgettable for children. The camp program is designed as carefully as possible, so that the days will be full of interesting classes in programming, robotics, sports, and communication with friends and teachers. Within 7 days, children will learn time management, they will follow the schedule of the day themselves, they will become more organized, athletic, physically resilient. An interesting and rich program will be remembered by children for a long time and perhaps the kids will continue classes in the sport of their interest, programming and robotics.

The camp will hold a variety of team activities, games and tournaments.

Children will play both board games and spend a lot of time outdoors, play basketball, volleyball, soccer, table tennis.

During 7 days, 2 excursions are planned - jeep safari as well as the rope park “Sparti” with a picnic and hiking along a mountain path.

The program for each day you can find in the schedule.

Course in Robotics EV3 and Robotics 7-9

The course “Robotics EV3” is a course we have developed that gives children an exciting opportunity to study natural, technical, engineering sciences and mathematics in practice.

The ideal age for starting this kind of work is 10-12 years. Previously, a child may have had difficulty in understanding the principles of operation of certain mechanisms.

By combining LEGO constructor with LEGO MINDSTORMS Education technologies, student teams can develop, assemble, program, and test robots. In the process of working with LEGO EV3, students gain experience in solving both typical and atypical tasks in construction, programming, and data collection.

LEGO EV3 provides ease of assembly of the initial models, which allows children to get the result within one or a couple of lessons. At the same time, the possibilities are broad for changing models and programs, and this approach allows students to complicate the model and program, to show independence in studying the topic.

In addition, children learn to formulate, analyze, critically evaluate, defend their ideas. Working in a team, students acquire the skills of communication, organization and research activities that will help them achieve successful results in the future.

The course "Robotics 7-9" allows children by using their creative abilities to start learning programming, physics, computer science, mathematics and robotics in a game form an early age. Such an approach to training gives young engineers a great pleasure in gaining knowledge, motivating them to expand their personal horizons.

It is ideal to start this kind of course from 7 years. Previously, a child may have difficulty understanding the principles of operation of certain mechanisms.

In our classes, we use the Lego WeDo 2.0 designer, designed specifically for the practice of constructing entry-level robots, to learn basic design and programming skills. The constructor, in addition to the classic parts, incorporates a motor, a smart hub and sensors that allow the model to work. With this set, children can design and program the first operational models of robotics through a computer application. The first concepts of programming are introduced into the learning process: cycle, block, algorithm. Their study is based on the program LEGO Education WeDo 2.0, which uses a visual programming environment. The child drags icons into the workspace and learns to write his first program. All of these tools allow the model to be set in motion in accordance with the program that has been drafted, and this brings great enthusiasm in children.

In addition, children learn to formulate, analyze, critically evaluate, defend their ideas. Working as a team, students acquire communication skills.

Choosing this course, the child is given the opportunity to:
• learn the basics of mechanics;
• assemble models from the Lego designer according to the proposed instructions;
• create his/her own model of robots;
• learn how to program using the WeDo 2.0 environment;
• learn how to present his/her own projects;
• unleash creativity;
• learn how to work in a team.

Course "Mobile Development"

This is a course designed specifically for children who are not indifferent to programming. It allows students to immerse themselves in the world of development through the creation of games and applications for smartphones with the Android operating system.

Using a graphical environment for creating applications, children will try themselves in the role of designers, programmers and testers. In the classroom, instead of the textual language of development, we use the MIT App Inventor visual environment, which contains blocks with ready-made functions, which increases the time to learn the algorithms for creating programs and reduces the time to write the application itself.

Along with the study of programming, children will learn new things about the sensors and memory of mobile devices, graphic images, methods of creating animation, file formats and methods of working with them within the framework of creating an application and much more.

The course is well suited for children of 9-12 years. It is a logical continuation of the Scratch environment study course (knowing how to work with this program will be easier to get involved with App Inventor), but it will also be available for those who have not yet experienced programming.

In the classroom, children will meet with extraordinary tasks, learn to be think broadly and be open minded, work in a team, analyze problems and look for the shortest ways to solve them. Pupils will create interesting games and useful applications that can be easily downloaded to your smartphone or recorded on a friend’s phone.
