Sports Complex:
The Anadia High Performance Center (CAR Anadia) is a successful project that, since 2009, has ensured support for the detection, training, development and preparation of athletes and other sports agents linked to high competition, with specialized and oriented skills for research, qualification and progress of processes and methods linked to high sports performance, according to international standards. Integrated into the National CAR Network, it incorporates a set of sports infrastructures, distributed across two centers located in the municipality of Anadia, with its diversity of capabilities serving the modalities of cycling, fencing, judo, gymnastics and modern pentathlon.
In the cycling modality, it is worth highlighting the fact that the International Cycling Union awarded CAR Anadia the title of Continental Satellite Center of the World Cycling Center. This distinction means that CAR Anadia's set of sporting facilities for this modality – Velodrome, BMX Track, XCO Track and Sports Training Control and Assessment Center (CCATD) – meets, in Europe, all the conditions to be flagged as training center for cyclists from all over the world.
The CAR Anadia nuclear building is located at the Sangalhos Complex. In addition to a sports hall with a multipurpose area of 2600 m2, it also houses the National Velodrome, which has an indoor cycling track with a perimeter of 250 meters.
Next to the main building is the BMX Track with the CCATD, built on the base of the structure of the two starting ramps. The track has two Olympic distance courses, starting with a Challenger category start gate (5 meters above the ground) and another Supercross category (8 meters above the ground). The CCATD includes 3 medical-sports assessment offices, a laboratory, a training room and a meeting room.
The complementary CAR Anadia hub is located in Curia and includes an Olympic Cross Country Track (XCO). In this space, for the MTB variant, several routes are available for different levels of technical demand, from the basic levels, in their learning, to the elite, in their preparation for national and international competitions.
