Athletic Hall Kantrida was inaugurated in May 2010. It is mainly intended for professional trainings by the athletes and organisation of the indoor athletic competitions, as well as other sport and leisure activities such as handball, basketball, indoor soccer, aerobics, dance, tennis, badminton and the like. It is equipped with 12 metres high artificial climbing wall.
A tartan floor, which continues on the bridge and the outdoor terrace of the coffee bar represents a special feature of the sports hall. The building is also suitable for the disabled.
The Kantrida Sports Hall is located in immediate vicinity of the Kantrida Stadium, at 50 metres distance from the sea. Only 500 m towards the east, in direction of the city center is a sports and leisure complex 3. maj, and some 200 metres to the west the Kantrida Swimming Pools complex.
The multi-purpose sports hall, mainly used for preparation/training of athletic teams and organization of athletic indoor sport competitions, is also used for other sport disciplines and recreational activities such as handball, basketball, indoor soccer, aerobics, dance, tennis, badminton and other.
The hall can also be used by sportsmen with disabilities (an elevator and a ramp make it easier to reach different levels). There is a separate dressing room, as well as toilettes, parking places and a special entrance for the disabled.
A 12 metres high artificial climbing wall is installed in the sports hall and provided with separate changing rooms and sanitary facilities. It is one of the highest indoor artificial climbing walls in Croatia enabling the athletes to climb in 46 different directions, which is the maximum compared to other walls in Croatia. It is suitable for bouldering and speed climbing competitions.
There is also a meeting room and offices are located in the administration building. The surface of the meeting hall is 41 m2. It is equipped with 4 tables, 12 chairs, a board and a 37'' plasma TV.
