Sports Complex:

Sport- und Bildungszentrum Malente is the central education and training centre of the Schleswig-Holstein Sports Federation, set on a compact 24,000 m² campus between the lakes of the Holsteinische Schweiz. It combines a three-part sports hall with swimming pool, combat-sports and aerobics halls, a fitness club, tennis courts, seminar rooms and boarding-style accommodation for around 140–150 guests, aimed at clubs, schools and federations.

The core sports infrastructure is indoors: a large divisible triple hall for ball sports, badminton and indoor athletics (60 m sprint, long, high and pole vault plus throws), a dedicated budo hall with extra 100 m² of mats over a 300 m² parquet floor for dance, and a mirrored aerobics hall used for dance, health and fitness classes. The on-site swimming hall offers 5 lanes of 33.33 m with starting blocks, 27 °C water, a shallow-water section for aqua-gym and non-swimmers, full training equipment and a sauna that is currently out of service but planned to reopen. A leased DEPORT fitness studio with modern cardio and strength equipment and an additional weights room in the sports hall cover conditioning work, while two floodlit artificial-grass tennis courts are available outside; a modern athletics stadium about 2 km away can be booked through the centre for full track and field training.

Accommodation is split across three guest houses with around 70 rooms and 150 beds in single to four-bed layouts. Every room has its own shower/WC; a quieter premium guest house is fitted mainly with single and double rooms, while the more economical standard areas in the Wirtschaftsgebäude and Althaus offer mostly 3–4-bed rooms plus some doubles, which are popular with youth teams and school groups. Bedding is included and premium rooms also receive a towel pack.

Catering is buffet-based and geared to sports groups: breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at fixed start times, with lunch offering three main options (full-value, vegetarian and a pasta dish) plus side-dish buffet, salad bar and dessert. Extra snacks, coffee breaks and intermediate meals can be booked, and the kitchen is used to handling vegetarian, whole-food and many allergy-related diets on request.

For theory work there are four main seminar / working rooms, each designed for roughly 25–30 people depending on seating; two can be combined into a 200 m² lecture hall for about 100 participants, and another can be subdivided into three small rooms, with three further rooms convertible into meeting spaces using mobile screens and media equipment.

The campus sits on Eutiner Straße in Bad Malente, in a wooded lake district that supports outdoor running, cycling and water-sport options. Malente has its own rail station with direct trains to Kiel and Lübeck, both around 40–50 km away by road, making access straightforward for regional and national groups.
