Landessportschule Ruit is the state sports school and training campus of the Württemberg sports federation, located in the Ostfildern district of Ruit just outside Stuttgart. It combines education, elite sport and club training on a compact campus with several sports and multi purpose halls, natural and artificial turf pitches and around two hundred beds in three guesthouses, making it a classic residential training centre for associations, clubs and school groups.
As an external site of the Olympic training centre Stuttgart, the campus hosts the national trampoline base and a state performance centre for boxing and is regularly used by the Württemberg football federation, the German football association and the German Olympic sports confederation for high performance sport. Foreign women national teams and German youth national teams also run training camps here, so the daily environment is very much shaped by elite sport.
Indoors, five full size sports halls are complemented by a football hall with artificial turf and fixed heading pendulums, a multi purpose games hall for handball, futsal, volleyball, basketball, boxing, wrestling, judo and ju jutsu, a classic turn hall with apparatus for artistic gymnastics, a mirrored gymnastics and dance room, a multihall that can be set up for shooting, dance and fitness, a dedicated strength and barbell room with platforms and racks, and an 8 x 16.66 metre indoor pool used by the swimming association and the life saving society.
Outdoors the school offers a full size natural grass pitch, one small and one large artificial turf pitch that can be divided into youth fields, each with floodlighting, plus a beach volleyball court and a dedicated outdoor 3x3 basketball court. The green middle of the campus is used informally for morning runs, activation and conditioning, while additional small sided mini pitches on the grounds support technical work and small games.
Guests are housed in three guesthouses, with all rooms having their own shower and toilet and a total capacity of roughly 200 beds in single and double rooms. The campus building includes reception and a sauna area for regeneration, while the Waldhaus and Wiesenhaus provide additional accommodation and lounge spaces. Full board is offered via breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets geared to athlete needs, with vegetarian options as standard and vegan or allergy specific dishes and lunch packs available on request. A cosy Stüble bar, cafeterias and several coffee and snack vending machines round out the catering side.
For seminars and theory sessions there are numerous modern seminar rooms plus a 180 square metre congress hall, all equipped with interactive screens or beamer, audio system and classic workshop tools, so teams can combine training with meetings or classroom based work. Access is straightforward both by car via the A8 motorway with on site multi storey car park and by public transport with the Stuttgart U7 tram stop Zinsholz only a short walk from the entrance. Stuttgart airport lies roughly 10 kilometres away by road, which keeps transfer times low for travelling squads.
